The Foothill Communities are approximately 40 miles south of Los Angeles. The Pacific Ocean is 15 minutes away and skiing in the San Bernardino Mountains is 30 minutes away.

The region of interest to Foothill Communities Association includes the unincorporated areas of the County of Orange bounded by the cities of Santa Ana (to the west), Tustin (to the south and east) and Orange (to the north).

Several of the included communities are also known as North Tustin, Cowan Heights, Panorama Heights, Lemon Heights, and Crawford Canyon. Foothill Communities Association obtained the Post Office designation as North Tustin in 2006. Zip codes included in the region are 92705 and 92780.
